Detection of two interstellar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons via spectral matched filtering

چکیده

Identifying PAHs in space Midinfrared spectroscopy has shown that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are abundant many astronomical objects, but this technique cannot determine which specific PAH molecules present. Radio astronomy could provide individual identifications if the molecule is sufficiently and a large dipole moment, expected to produce numbers of very weak lines. McGuire et al. performed stacking matched filter analysis search for radio observations TMC-1, located within interstellar Taurus Molecular Cloud. They identified emission from two isomers small cyanonapthalene, fused benzene rings with CN group attached. Science , issue p. 1265

Dehydrogenation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the diffuse interstellar medium

We present a model for the hydrogenation states of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the diffuse interstellar medium. First, we study the abundance of hydrogenation and charge states of PAHs due to photo-ionization, photodissociation in the interstellar UV field, electron recombination and chemical reactions between PAH cations and H or H2. For PAH cations, we find that the dehydrogena...

Closed-shell polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon cations: a new category of interstellar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

Density functional theory has been employed to calculate the harmonic frequencies and intensities of a range of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) cations that explore both size and electronic structure effects on the infrared spectroscopic properties of these species. The sample extends the size range of PAH species considered to more than 50 carbon atoms and includes several representative...

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and the diffuse interstellar bands: a survey.

We discuss the proposal relating the origin of some of the diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) to neutral and ionized polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) present in interstellar clouds. Laboratory spectra of several PAHs, isolated at low temperature in inert gas matrices, are compared with the spectra of five reddened early-type stars selected from an extensive set of astronomical spectra. Fr...

Biodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...

Transport of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in a Calcareous Wetland Soil

Knowledge of transport and degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is important in assessing PAH contamination of soils and water resources. The transport of naphthalene, anthracene, pyrene and phenanthrene was determined in a contaminated calcareous soil obtained from the Shadegan wetland (Khozestan, Iran) considering a column study in laboratory conditions. The PAHs were added ...
